'26 Junior's Beach Training - Summer 2026

Bumpy Pickle Beach is offering a (10) week, full summer beach volleyball training and conditioning program for junior girls & boys ages 10 & up. All practices are held weekly, at our facility June 1st through August 7th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Monday* evenings & 9:00am to 11:00am Friday* mornings.

A FREE, play-around & meet the coaches event will be Friday May 29th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The whole family is welcome to come out and decide if this is something their player is interested in. (2) tournaments are also included and participation is optional. These will be June 20th and Aug 1st.

Training for 2 vs 2 beach volleyball has many benefits, the most obvious is the increased amount of touches. Players will be reacting to, and playing EVERY OTHER BALL. This helps round out a player's overall skill set versus single position training, develops greater communication between teammates and requires players to execute both defensively and offensively. Doing all of this in the sand means your lower body is getting a workout the entire time. Players returning to indoor after a summer of beach volleyball frequently feel faster and stronger on indoor court surfaces.

Total cost is $500** 

All participants will receive 2 logo'd tank tops that extend below waistline. Players will be responsible for remainder of their preferred clothing. Sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle (no glass), towel, visor or hats should be considered. The outdoor elements of beach volleyball can often be a huge factor for transitioning players. Be prepared.

*Available days of the week may increase/decrease based on total number of participants.

**Players will be required to bring a suitable beach volleyball to all practices. If you have one already, perfect, bring that! We prefer FIVB Official Beach Elite volleyball by Molten V5B5000, AVP OPTX or NCAA OPTX by Wilson. These are available through our checkout, or you can buy from your favorite retailer later. Old indoor balls are not suitable and are too light. If you aren't sure, please ask before spending money on a "bad" beach volleyball. Beware of the Wilson ARX and Replica Game balls. Both look almost identical to the yellow & black OPTX but the similarities end there. The big price difference is the main clue as these are about $50 cheaper on average.

Pure-Rec 4 x 4 Tournament 04.25.26

We've cracked the formula for a guaranteed good time! Co-ed Recreational fours event WITH NO ADV PLAYERS allowed! Saturday, April 25th. This tournament is for the weekend warriors that want to come out and play against other fun teams that don't take things too seriously. It should be a good time for everyone. Games will start out in pool play, and all teams will make the playoffs!

Total TEAM COUNT determines the number of games played, and the point totals of each game. We always try to schedule as many games as time allows.

Per usual, this will be a laid back tournament with standard rules of beach volleyball politely enforced. However, these rules will be strictly called during play:
1) No swings from 1b restricted players. 2) Any touching of the net. 3) You can not attack or block a serve.

4) If you hand set a ball over the net, your shoulders should be square to the direction of the ball. 5) No fingertip redirects over the net. 

There will be NO ADVANCED PLAYERS in this tournament, males or females. Remember, the goal of this tournament is for everyone to enjoy nice weather and have a some fun. Play a little, party a little -or a lot. We won't tell.

Tournament starts out in pool play.

SUNDAY *evenings* ADVANCED  Co-ed 4 vs 4

This league is catered to the more experienced and competitive teams. All teams of this league will be able to pass, set, and spike on a consistent basis. All beach volleyball rules will be strictly enforced (including NO OPEN HAND RECEIVES ON SERVES, SHOULDERS MUST BE SQUARE WHEN HAND SETTING OVER THE NET, NO FINGER TIP REDIRECTS, NO CARRIES, and NO LIFTS). The hand sets in this division will be called tighter than in any other league at Bumpy Pickle Beach. Doubles and/or held balls while setting will result in a point for the other team. The overall attitude in this division is to have some fun, but these teams are here to win! If you aren't sure, or haven't played w/ us before please email us prior to registration.

Each team will get at least 2 double headers this session.

TENTATIVE START DATE:  Sunday (3/22/26) 

*1st game MUST be underway by 6:10 or it will be forfeited to the ready team. Limit breaks between sets to 2 mins. max.

The league will be 6 weeks of pool play, and the final week(s) will be playoffs.
Time slots for these games are 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, (9:00* if & as needed)
Every team will play at least one time slot per week.
Each match will last 60 minutes.
All matches consist of 3 games, rally scoring (21,21,15)*cap at 23,23,17
Teams must have at least one female on the court at all times.
All games will be self-refereed and scored.

Playing in ADV league means you're counted as ADV for remainder of season.

No one is allowed to touch the net during play.
Subs are allowed during the regular season. Teams in need of sub during playoffs may use a previous sub from their regular season, or players from ELIMINATED teams. Do not use a player from a team who is available due to a BYE. NO new substitutes during playoffs.

EASE back into it. You've been sitting on the couch more than you'd planned on and you just need to shake the dust and rust off. Get moving & play without worrying about nit-picky calls that are intended for higher levels of play. (1) ADV player per team max, intended to provide coaching. All ADV players are restricted. No spikes, jump serves, or blocking etc. 55 & up are unrestricted.

Tuesday ADV Co-Ed 2’s : Request for Information

This weeknight requires partnering with an existing player within the league or demonstrating the required skills to match the league's average. Read below and click through to get communications started and for more information.

This league is catered to experienced and competitive players. All teams in this league should be able to pass, set, and spike on a consistent basis. The hand sets may be called a little loose, leaving some room for error, but opponent discretion determines hand set errors resulting in a point. All other beach volleyball rules should be enforced, including OPEN HAND RECEIVES ON SERVES, SHOULDERS BEING SQUARE WHEN HAND SETTING OVER THE NET, NO FINGER TIP REDIRECTS, NO CARRIES, LIFTS or HELD BALLS. The overall attitude in this division is to have some fun, but these teams show up to win games. There will be at least two double headers scheduled for this session.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTERMEDIATE Co-ed 4 vs 4

This league is for teams who have experience in beach volleyball, but aren't quite ready to play against the advanced teams. In this league you will face teams that have ball control and whose goal is to pass, set, and spike on every volley. The rules should be called tighter than in the REC leagues. There will be NO OPEN HAND RECEIVES ON SERVE, NO FINGER TIP REDIRECTS, NO LIFTS, CARRIES or THROWs, and NO HAND SETS OVER THE NET WITHOUT SHOULDERS BEING SQUARE. ANY contact with the NET is also a fault. Up to (2) ADV players per team, one male maximum. ADV Males are restricted, no spikes, jump serves, or blocking etc. while ADV females are unrestricted. Ages 55 & up are also unrestricted.

Each team will get at least 2 double headers this session.

This league is for those looking forward to some fun & don't take beach volleyball too seriously. Teams are here trying to improve their game. Most in this league will not have great success at passing or setting the ball, which means there will be a lot of one overs and very few spikes. You don't have to worry about big hitters in this league! Rules in this division will be politely enforced. Obvious throws & lifts should be called as well as ANY CONTACT of the NET. This is so people can play and not worry about nit-picky calls that are intended for a higher level of play. (1) ADV player per team max, intended to provide coaching. All ADV players are restricted. No spikes, jump serves, or blocking etc. 55 & up are unrestricted.

Each team will get at least 2 double headers this session.
